nostalgisches Mitsingen // nostalgic sing-along
Meine Theorie lässt sich mit den „Mamma Mia“-Filmen bestätigen. Und mit der Fortsetzung des ersten Filmes von 2008, die grade in den Kinos ist, gibt es einen weiteren Beweis dafür, dass ABBA für immer an der Spitze stehen.
Um die Story der Mutter Donna und ihrer Tochter Sophie, die gemeinsam ein Hotel auf einer griechischen Insel besitzen, weiterzuführen, zeigt der zweite Film wie Sophie und ihre Väter versuchen mit Donnas Tod umzugehen, während das Hotel wiedereröffnet werden soll. Des weiteren gibt es Rückblenden in Donnas Vergangenheit, die zeigen, wie sie nach dem Abschluss der Uni reisen geht, in unterschiedlichen Situationen drei junge Männer trifft und dann, schwanger mit Sophie, auf der griechischen Insel landet und die verlassene Farm findet, die sie in ihr Hotel verwandeln möchte.
Good thing there are the Mamma Mia movies to prove my theory. And with the recently released sequel to the first Mamma Mia movie from 2008, there is yet even more evidence that ABBA are forever on top.
Continuing the story of the mother Donna and her daughter Sophie, who run a small hotel on a Greek island, the second movie shows how Sophie and her dads are coping with Donna’s death, reopening the hotel and planning a big opening party. The other part of the movie goes back to the past, showing how the young Donna goes traveling after finishing university, meeting three young men in different situations and ending up on the Greek island, finding the abandoned building she wants to turn into the hotel and discovering that she is pregnant with Sophie.
Die einzige Sache die mir nicht gefallen hat war die Tatsache, dass Meryl Streep kaum bis gar nicht zu sehen ist. Und der Auftritt von Cher als Sophies lang verschollene Großmutter wäre nicht nötig gewesen. Das hätte wirklich so ziemlich jede andere machen können, auch wenn Cher natürlich eine tolle Sängerin ist… Abgesehen davon hab ich mich gefreut, das Orginalcast aus dem ersten Film neben einem sehr guten neuen Cast ihrer jüngeren Versionen zu sehen.
Mein Kitsch liebendes, nostalgisches Fangirlherz hofft darauf, dass die zwei neuen ABBA-Singles die im September rauskommen sollen, eine weitere Fortsetzung inspirieren.
Ich könnte auf jeden Fall noch eine weitere große „Dancing Queen“-Szene mit hunderten Tänzern auf Booten und griechischem Strand vertragen.

The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that Meryl Streep had next to no screen time and, sorry guys, but – Cher’s guest starring as Sophies long lost grandma wasn’t really necessary, don’t you think? Although, of course, she is a great singer, any other actress could have done the job.
Apart from that I was happy to see all the original cast from the first movie plus a well done new cast with all the younger versions of everyone!
I just hope, that the two new ABBA singles, that are to be released in September, are going to inspire yet another sequel (this is just my fangirl, over-romanticising and nostalgic heart speaking).
I could totally watch yet another massive „Dancing Queen“ scene with a hundred people singing and dancing around on boats and the beach of Greece.
